ADFAC's School Supplies program
ADFAC’s School Supplies program is a simple, effective way to ensure that low-income, high-risk K-12 students have all the supplies they need to begin the school year on solid ground. Each year, local individuals, groups, businesses and foundations work with ADFAC to provide new school supplies to nearly 1,400 children throughout Anderson County.
The 2010 School Supplies program is in full swing and there are many ways you can help:
- Purchase some school supplies and donate them to ADFAC (click here for a list of suggested items)
- Make a monetary donation to "ADFAC School Supplies"
- Coordinate a collection site or school supply drive
- Where? Possibly your neighborhood, your church, your office or place of business
- How? By yourself or by enlisting help from a group you're involved with, such as the Boy or Girl Scouts, Sunday School classes, Professional Organizations, Book Clubs, Women's Clubs, Associations, Councils, Pilot Clubs, Retiree Groups, etc.
- Volunteer to assist during school supply distribution days
- Help provide manpower and vehicles for moving stored supplies to and from distribution site
- Assist with setting up, making signs, organizing supplies for distribution
- 4-hour shifts assisting at distribution (8 AM - 12 PM, 12 PM - 4 PM)
- Cleaning up and inventorying after completion of distribution
- Assist with school supply purchasing during the best sale days (evenings and/or weekends)
Donations should be received by July 13th, if possible, and no later than August 5th to be included in this summer's distribution. However, school supplies and donations are greatly appreciated and accepted throughout the year by ADFAC. This enables our agency to continue to work with all the schools in our county, providing additional needed classroom supplies for our teachers and for any new students who enroll during the school year.
