How to apply for ADFAC's School Supplies program

Will your child need school supplies for the next school year?  This summer ADFAC will be providing school supplies to around 1400 children who live in Oak Ridge, Clinton, and throughout Anderson County.

To apply for school supplies, please call ADFAC as soon as possible.  The number is 483-6028.  If you get our answering machine, please let us know that you are calling about school supplies, and leave your name, social security number, and a phone number where you can be reached.  Families will be considered for eligibility on a first-come, first-served basis.

ADFAC staff will call you to set up an appointment to make sure that your family qualifies for school supplies.  If you qualify, you will receive a call with a date and time for you and your child(ren) to attend our distribution, which will be held during July and August.

In order to qualify for our distribution, you will need to bring the following items to your appointment:

  1. Proof of residence in Anderson County (a letter or bill mailed to you at your home or your Driver’s License if it has your correct address).
  2. Picture ID for a parent/guardian (usually your Driver’s License)
  3. Social security cards for children and adults in the household, if possible.  Children will not be denied school supplies if they do not have social security numbers.
  4. Proof of income – 2010 Food Stamp Award Letter (shows FS benefits, members of household, and income) or proof that your child received free or reduced lunch at school this last year.

If you don’t have either of these, then please bring proof of all income coming into the home (paycheck stubs, letter from employer, Social Security/Disability benefit letter, Unemployment benefit letter.

  1. If you are not a parent, but you are a custodian/guardian for one or more children, you must bring legal papers regarding that relationship.

Please try to take care of your eligibility as soon as you can (before July 15th, if possible), so that you can be pre-approved for the distribution schedule.  Thank you!
